Developments in mediatization research Knut Lundby, Oslo University
Theories and studies of ‘mediatization’ has become central in media and communiation research but also meet criticism. Knut Lundby will give an overview of contemporary mediatization research, emphasizing digitalization and theory development. He will apply examples from a project he is directing, on «Contesting Religion. The Media Dynamics of Cultural Conflicts in Scandinavia.
Knut Lundby is Professor at the Department of Media and Communication, University of Oslo. He is editor of the handbook on Mediatization of Communication (De Gruyter Mouton, 2014) and of Mediatization: Concept, Changes, Consequences (Peter Lang, 2009). He is directing the Scandinavian project «Engaging with Conflicts in Mediatized Religious Environments» (CoMRel).
